Material: Premium Silicone Compound / Nomex® (Aramid) multi-ply
reinforcement, manufactured to SAE J20 standards
Operating Temperatures: -65°F to 500°F (-54°C to 260°C)
Operating Pressure: (insert link
here that goes to a chart that includes burst pressure also)
Use: Turbochargers, superchargers, intercoolers, air intakes and other
engine components
Note: Not intended for any fuel, oil or oil
by-products.
LUCKEY SAYS: Transitions. Reducers. Step hoses. All these terms mean the same thing. I choose to use the term “Transition” because
it accurately describes the action of the hose interior: it transitions from
one size to another.
I design HoseTechniques transition hoses to
have a gradual incline/decline change from one side to the other, thus keeping
turbulence inside the hose to a minimum. This is important to maximize air flow. Better air flow provides better engine efficiencies (more power!).
There is 1” space on each side on the transition which allows enough room for clamping securely. Thus a ¾ inch wide clamp can be used to
properly secure the hose to the pipe.
LUCKEY TIP 1: When purchasing transitions
(or reducers), make sure the inside step is smooth and gradual. There should be enough sleeve length on
either side to accommodate clamps. All HoseTechniques transition hoses
have a minimum of one inch on each side for clamping surface.
LUCKEY TIP 2: It’s best to use only high quality clamps such as our 100% stainless steel clamps. Worm clamps and sharp edged T-Bolt clamps should not be used on silicone hoses. Silicone expands and contracts with temperature changes, thus any sharp edged clamps will cut into the soft silicone over a period of time, which will destroy the silicone material and can be the cause of air leaks.
